Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten YA Books I’d Recommend To Adults

Nov 19, 2013

Before I start I want to say how sorry I am for not posting in the last week and half as I did have my Year 11 Exams and was very busy studying for them. And then over the weekend it was my birthday and I was doing birthday things. If you follow me on twitter I am sorry for many apologies  that I sent out. So back to what you came here for.

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that one of the bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. All Bloogers are then welcomed to join. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Books I’d Recommend To X Person.
I am aiming my list as, Young Adult books that I recommend adults to read, as sometimes I get the feeling that even though some adults want to try and read some YA they don’t know where to start, and if they start on a book that isn’t quite what they are looking for that might never read YA again. I am a firm believer that anyone over the age of 12 maybe a little older can read YA and love it so here is my list of what I think adults could read and love.  Again like I say every week, these are in no particular order.

The Fault in Our Starshunger gamescity of bones

1. The Fault in out Stars by John Green – I adore this book, I think it’s an amazing read and a real eye opener; it knocks you on your feet and makes you think what is real. I think this will be an amazing book for adults to read to help them bring themselves back to reality and to also show then that Teens do feel emotional as well. You can read my full review here

2. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins – I know that my mum is very hesitate on reading these, as it’s children killing children and I just think, would it make a difference if it was adults killing adults, no they are still human, I think this is what most adults don’t like about the books.  She loves the movies so I  keep on trying to convince her to read them as they are so much better. But I think if you are an adult you should defiantly read The Hunger Games Trilogy it is so much more than Killing people

3. The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare – For an Adult that likes demons, Angel and all types of supernatural creatures, I think that they should totally read this series. They are really good reads and I think everyone should read them. They can show the adults what life is like growing up, coming into adulthood for a Teen, through the metaphor that Cassandra uses. My mum watched the movie and feel in love, so she decided to read the books, she read the whole series in a month; it normally takes her 1 month to read one book.  So as you can see Adults can read and love these books as well. Here is my review on City of Bones.

Pawnjust listen 2HP PS
4. Pawn by Aimee Carter – I just read this recently and I think it’s an amazing read and as dystopian is quite ‘in’ at the moment I think this is a perfect read to pick it up and understand it. I think adults will enjoy this even though the main protagonist is in her teens; she and others are relatable in certain ways. My Review for Pawn will be up in a few days

5. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen – Is a beautiful romance that everyone should read, and I think that they will enjoy. I think it attracted females more, but not saying males won’t like. I think that sometimes everyone needs that romantic read.  You can read my review of Just Listen Here

6.The Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling – although it’s not YA, I think everyone should read Harry Potter no matter how old you are, everyone can learn something from it.

7. Divergent by Veronica Roth – Again with the Dystopian so ‘in’ right now, I think this is a perfect read, especially with the movie coming out soon.  I think this is a great coming of age story, finding out whom you are. I think both teens and adults can benefit from Divergent and both can love it. You can take a look at my review on Divergent.
8. Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan – Yes again I know this isn’t
‘YA’  but I think these are great read for adults, also great for parents to read to their children, they can both enjoy it and love it. I don’t know many people that have read Percy Jackson and disliked it. You can read my review on the first book here and the rest of the reviews are up on my blog.
9. Daughter of Smoke and Bone  by Lani Taylor – If your an adult or you  know one that likes, Angels, Mystery and loves to not know what is happening. This is a good read for you. I think both teens and adults can enjoy these books.

10. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon – I just started reading this but I really think adults will enjoy this books as well as teens, especially those whom like science fiction and fantasy.

So there you go, there is my list, there is probably lost more to add to this list, but from what I have read these are what I think adults would like if they read YA. Do you agree with any of these? What would you put on the list?

Top Ten Sequels I Can’t Wait To Get My Hands On!

Nov 5, 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that one of the bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. All Bloogers are then welcomed to join. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Sequels I can’t wait to get my hands on.

This week was sort of hard as I haven’t really started many new series this year. I have read alot of stand alone, finished off series or read the whole series at once. But I did give it my best try. These are in no particular order.

1.City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare – This is the 6th and last book in to The Mortal Instruments Series, just need to know what  will happen, and with Cassandra’s snippets and telling a fair few people will die, I just oh my. Need it. City of Heavenly Fire expected to be published May 2014
2.The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead – This is the 4th book in the Bloodlines series and if you haven’t realised already, I adore Richelle Mead and her Vampire Academy world books. I cannot wait to get back in and see what happens to Adrian and Sydney. This Comes out the 19th of November.

3. The Blackcoat Rebellion #2  by Aimee Carter – Pawn is not even out yet and I am dying to read the second in the series. I received an ARC of Pawn and adored it. I cannot wait to read more of this series.
4. Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi – I have yet to read the second book in the Under the Never Sky Trilogy but I love the first book to pieces and from what I have heard the second book is just as amazing. I do plan on reading it very soon. Into the Still Blue is set to be published January 28th 2014

5. Winter by Sierra Dean – I really enjoyed the first book in this series, it was a quick, awesome read and I cannot wait to see what happens in the second book in the Dog Days Series  as we are left with a cliff hanger in the first book. On Goodreads it says it’s expected to be published in November 2013 but I am not too sure about that.

6. Fractured Innocence by Julia Crane – I recently read the first book into this series Freak of Nature and really enjoyed it. So when I heard there was going to be another book, I just had to put in on this list. No published date yet.

7. Angel Fever by L.A Weatherly – I have really enjoyed the first 2 books into the series. And cannot wait to see what happens next, don’t be fooled by the cover. This has already been published in the UK/Australia in August this year but I am yet to read it.

8.Sliver Shadows by Richelle Mead – Well I had to do, yes I know I already have The Fiery Heart on my list but I know I cannot wait for this either. This is the 5th book into the Bloodlines Series. Set to be published August 2014.

So guys that is all I could think of :/ What sequels are you looking forward?

Top Ten Scariest Looking Book Covfile:///C:/Users/angel/Downloads/03b7f9c0da575e9aa6b5fbe079c71dfb.jpgers

All Bloogers are then welcomed to join. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Scariest Looking Book Covers
This week was kind of hard in a way, as I don’t think I have ever read ‘scary’ books with ‘scary’ covers. Not that I don’t like them or that I am not into them, I just have never picked one of them up. So this list consist of, covers that I do, find scary in one way or another.

1. Fallen by Lauren Kate – this cover in a sense is not scary, scary, but I do find the dark colours very gothic like and dark, which in some cases I do find scarier.

2. The House of Dead Maids by Clare B. Dunkle –  This cover is just creepy, scary and just plain eerie.

3. The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff – This cover is scary, anything to do with harming babies is scary to me but. The colours used, the weapons hanging on an old tree, above a babies pram. With all the low clouds/smoke very scary.
4. Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1) by Kendare Blake – I hate old house, they just creep me out so much, so having the old house in the background is enough already, but then the black, whites and greys with only the title, the bottom of her dress and what seems to be leaves or the shreds of material in red, makes it that much more creep. The fact that we only see her back, with her black hair going to one side with the wind, just creepy.

5. Asylum by Madeleine Roux – First of all the title of the book already, freaks me out, but the way it’s written is creepy as. Also the depiction of the figure of the girl and now it’s not full made out, how her face is somewhat not there makes it that much more scary. And how there is little light.

6. Sleepless by Thomas Fahy  –  the way that the title is written on the sleeping mask in like a cut, the blood dripping her face, makes it look really scary.

7. Drought by Pam Bachorz –The girls face is transparent and you can see right through her and see the creepy, old woods is pretty scary to me.

8. Time of the Witches by Anna Myers– don’t need to say much about this cover, it speaks for its self.

9. Malice by Griffin Hayes– This cover is scary, come on a red eye, with skin that’s not the colour of normal skin.

10. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine #1) by Ransom Riggs– This is just a creepy cover. Like you wound not think it’s scary but it is. I think anything with kids like this is scary.

Sorry that, if it looks really wired, I’m not sure what has happened. What do you think of the books I’ve chosen? Do you think they are scary? What books are on your list?
