2021 Releases I Was Excited to Read But Didn’t Get To

2021 Releases I Was Excited to Read But Didn’t Get To

Jan 18, 2022

This week I’m sharing the 2021 releases that I was excited to read but didn’t get to. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I read a lot of books last year, but I still wasn’t able to get through everything that I wanted to read. So today, I’m sharing the books that were released last year that I didn’t pick up but wanted to. They are mostly romances, but young adult books that make an appearance. Anyway let’s go, as always these are in no order.

Bombshell (Hell’s Belles #1) by Sarah MacLean. | The Ex Hex (Ex Hex #1) by Erin Sterling | Her Soul to Take (Souls Trilogy #1) by Harley Laroux | Yes & I Love You (Say Everything #1) by Roni Loren.

Wild Rain (Women Who Dare #2) by Beverly Jenkins | Reel (Hollywood Renaissance #1) by Kennedy Ryan |Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo | The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun.

Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan | Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley.

And there we go. Those are the 2021 releases that I was excited about but wasn’t able to get to. I am really hoping that I can get to some of them this year. I actually do own most of them so that is a good start. What did you want to read last year but didn’t? Have you read anything on my list? Let’s Chat!

Happy New Year | Welcome to 2022

Happy New Year | Welcome to 2022

Jan 1, 2022

happy new year 2022

2021 was a year that was very up and down. We never knew what was going to be thrown at us, we never do. But let’s hope that 2022 is just a little better.

I wanted to quickly jump on and wish everyone here a happy new year. I wish that you all have a lovely day and hope that 2022 will be a fantastic year for you all. The last two years have been rough on all of us and a global pandemic that just doesn’t want to stop has made everything that more difficult. I hope that you are all finding something bright in your lives to get you through.

There are so many books already on my 2022 tbr that I cannot wait to read and share my thoughts with you all. With so many books coming out I don’t even know where to start. I want to make 2022 another year and just read what I want and not care about what others think. I hope that you all can do the same.

What were some of your favourite books that you read in 2021? I’m still debating and trying to figure out mine right now. What books are you looking forward to reading in 2022? What’s at the top of your list? There are so many amazing romances and young adult books that have already made it onto my tbr that I cannot wait to read.

I also want to expand my reading in 2022 and start reading more manga, comics and graphic novels. I think that is my plan for the year – that’s for sure. What are some of your favourites? What should I read?

Well, that is all from me. I hope that 2021 wasn’t a horrible year for you and if it was I hope that 2022 brings your some more joy. I hope that you all have a fantastic year this year. And read as many books as you want.

Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2021

Top Ten Best Books I Read In 2021

Dec 28, 2021

This week I’m sharing the best books I read in 2021. Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I want to preface this with, I’m writing this post in the middle of December so I might miss a few that I end up reading later this month. But I will be sure to talk about then in 2022. I read pretty much all romacne this year, so most of the books that you are going to see on this list are romance. And I loved it so much. At the moment that I’m writing this post, I’ve read 188 books in 2021. So knocking this list down to 10 of my favourite reads is hard.

These aren’t just the books that came out this year. There are books on this list that were published a few years ago and I’m just reading them now. There are also 2021 releases on this list. It’s a mix of everything. So let’s go. As always these are in no order. I am also not including re-reads this in the list.

The Wallflower Wager (Girl Meets Duke #3) by Tessa Dare | Chain of Iron (The Last Hours #2) by Cassandra Clare. | Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters #1) by Talia Hibbert | Heartstopper, Volume Four (Heartstopper #4) by Alice Oseman.

Neon Gods (Dark Olympus #1) by Katee Robert. | Lola & the Millionaires: Part One (Sweet Omegaverse #2) by Kathryn Moon. | With You Forever (Bergman Brothers #4) by Chloe Liese | Punderworld, Volume 1 (Punderworld #1) by Linda Šejić.

King of Battle and Blood (Adrian X Isolde #1) by Scarlett St. Clair | War (The Four Horsemen #2) by Laura Thalassa.

***

And there we go. Those are some of the best books I read in 2021. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Are you planning on reading them? What books made it to your list?

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
