My Favourite Romance Tropes That I Love To Read

Mar 26, 2021

Today I thought I would have a little fun and share some of my favourite romance tropes that I love seeing in books. These aren’t all my favourites, because I could be here a while. But some of the ways that I love to read. And if a book has it in it, there is a higher chance that I will pick it up. Like always these are in no order.

Siblings Best Friend/Best Friends Sibling: This is a trope that I would read in almost anything. It’s one that I have loved for a really long time. I love the tension that it creates, the secrecy is fantastic and then how it all explodes. It just leaves for great friction between the characters.

Some of my favourites in include this trope are The Duke and I by Julia Quinn, Inked in Lies (The Fallen Men #5) by Giana Darling, On the Fence by Kasie West

Friends To Lovers: This is another one that I have loved to read for some time. It just makes me happy when I read this trope. I especially love it, when it’s the male who has been pining for a long time. It’s a nice flip on the trope and just makes everything better.

Some of my favourites books that include the friends to lovers trope is Him (Him #1) by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy, Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare and Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett.

Second Chances: This has become a recent favourite of mine. I didn’t read slowly romance for a long time, and that my reading habits have changed I do. And this has become a trope that I adore. It creates some beautiful moments between the characters. They explore forgiving but also taking a big step. This can be a mix of a second chance with the same person or even a second chance at love.

Some books that I adore with this trope are Mine to Possess (Psy-Changeling #4) by Nalini Singh, When He Was Wicked (Bridgertons #6) by Julia Quinn and Rookie Move (Brooklyn Bruisers #1) by Sarina Bowen

Fake Dating/Marriage of Convenience: I love when this trope is used in Historial Romance the most. It just works so well here and I can’t stop reading them. They create great tension, a lot of awkward moments that lead to more and some beautiful moments between the characters.

The books that I love that include this trope are The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke #1) by Tessa Dare, My Darling Duke (Sinful Wallflowers #1) by Stacy Reid and Serpent & Dove (Serpent & Dove #1) by Shelby Mahurin

TV Series That I Love To Watch

TV Series That I Love To Watch

Mar 23, 2021

I thought I would do something a little different today and share some of the TV or Netflix shows that I love to watch. These are either recent ones I’ve watched, or shows that I have watched over a long period of time. I think I have a strange range of shows that I watch. From crime shows to science fiction and fantasy. I just like to watch a whole heap of different shows and here are some of my favourites.

Once Upon A Time (2011-2018) – Creators: Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis. | I just recently starting re-watching this and I love it so much. I love the characters, the storyline and I love all the fairytales. I just love the way that it all intertwines.

Hawaii Five-O (2010-2020) – Creators: Peter M. Lenkov, Alex Kurtzman, Leonard Freeman. | This is one that is close to my heart. I love Hawaii so much and it’s my happy place, and that shows just gives me that. It’s one of those shows that I could watch again and again.

Criminal Minds (2005- 2020) – Creator: Jeff Davis. | I use to watch episodes here and there for this, but it wasn’t until last year that I watched it from start to finish. And gosh was it good. It’s dark and intriguing and just grabs you right away. I couldn’t stop watching even if at times it could a little too much.

NCIS: Los Angeles (2009-Current) – Creator: Shane Brennan. | This is another one like Hawaii Five-O, I just so much about it. From the characters to the stories and the relationships. It’s just a good show. I laugh, I cry and I always have a good time.

Stargate SG-1 (1997–2007) – Creator: Jonathan Glassner and Brad Wright. | This is one I use to watch all the time when I was younger and a few years ago I began to rewatch it again. I just love it. The world is fantastic, the characters are great and I can rewatch it all the time.

Lucifer (2016–current) –  Creator: Tom Kapinos. | I mean who doesn’t love this show. It’s fantastic. It mixes some of my favourite genres while also being funny and just so good. It’s dark but also has these moments that are full of light.

Bridgerton (2020–current ) Creator: Chris Van Dusen. | I mean you should know that this would be on my list. I don’t think I need to say much about this. It was everything that I wanted to be and more. I’m so looking forward to the second two.

The Mentalist (2008–2015) Creator: Bruno Heller. | This is another one of those shows that I use to watch here and there when it was on TV, but I just started my first full watch of it. It’s so good! It’s funny and addicting. But it’s also dark and makes you really think as you watch.

And those are some of the TV series that I really love to watch. Have you watched any of those shows? What do you think of them? What is some TV shows that you love to watch? Let’s Chat!

Books On My Summer 2021 TBR

Books On My Summer 2021 TBR

summer 2021 tbr

This week I’m sharing my summer tbr for 2021. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

It’s getting right into summer here in Australia. So today I thought I would share the books I hope to read in the coming months. Some of these are new books, and some are ones that have been on my tbr for a little while. Like always these are in no order. Let’s Go!

summer tbrThe Wallflower Wager (Girl Meets Duke #3) by Tessa Dare: I read the first two books in this series and adored them last year. So I am super excited to pick this up this summer. The fourth book also comes out sometimes this year so I want to get to this one before that.

The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros: I mean there couldn’t be a new Rebecca Yarros coming out and it not be on my TBR. I didn’t think I could love Rebecca Yarros more, but then she goes and writes this.

From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I’ve been wanting to read this one since it came out and I haven’t managed to either grab a copy or read it. Hopefully, I can get to it in the next couple of months or so.

The Stray Prince (Royals #2) by Ella Fields: I didn’t know that this was coming out until the other day. I read A King So Cold last year and was taken by it and now I’m so intrigued where this story is going to go. It was one of those books that I was not expecting at all. And now I’m both super nervous and excited.

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett: This has been on my to-buy list for months and then I got it for Christmas and I can’t wait to dig into it. I have only heard good things about it and that makes me super excited. It’s not my usual thing – like at all. But I’m looking forward to it.

These Violent Delights (These Violent Delights #1) by Chloe Gong: I picked this one in November, but I haven’t had the chance to read it yet. But this is right up my alley and something that I hope I will really enjoy. I adore retellings, and Shakespear ones and even more interesting.

Chasing Lucky by Jenn Bennett: This is another one that I picked up a few months ago but haven’t had the chance to read it yet. I’ve adored all the Jenn Bennett books I’ve picked up before and this one sounds exactly what I will love and I can’t wait for that.

Lore by Alexandra Bracken: I’m just waiting for this one to come in at work so I can start it. I haven’t read a book from Bracken before, but I am super excited to read this. It’s much more my thing then her other books and I mean it’s Greek Mythology so yes, please.

Wild Rain (Women Who Dare #2) by Beverly Jenkins: I am so excited to read this one. It’s the perfect summer read. It sounds so damn interesting and I’m so ready for some new Beverly Jenkins.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters #1) by Talia Hibbert: This is another one that I have recently received and I can’t wait to dig into it. I don’t read a lot of general contemporary romances, but I am super excited about it.

And those are just some of the books that I plan to read this summer. Yes, and I mean plan. Because I am horrible at keeping to tbrs. But anyway have you read any of these? What did you think? Let’s Chat!

I had such a great time reading this book. I didn’ I had such a great time reading this book. I didn’t know what to expect, but at the same time it was exactly what I wanted.

Driven is an entertaining, suspenseful new adult romance debut that has a second chance romance, is brothers best friend and has fast cars.

It’s one of those books that is perfect for those looking for something that they won’t want to put down, leave them second guessing and wanting more.

It’s full of second changes, finding yourself and falling for the one person that is forbidden.

This is all such a great debut novel that makes me want to read more from Emma J Warrender.
