Recent Kindle Unlimited Reads

Recent Kindle Unlimited Reads

Aug 8, 2020

Today I thought I would share more kindle unlimited books that I have read recently! I love sharing these books with you. Especially since a lot of these books and authors are new to me. Kindle Unlimited is a great way to find new authors and reads.

Anyway here we go, here are some of my most recent kindle unlimited reads. Like always these are in no order.

Inked in Lies (The Fallen Men #5) by Giana Darling: I’ve spoken about this a lot over the last week as it’s just been released. I loved reading Inked In Lies so much. It was a great addition to The Fallen Men series. Lila and Nova were fantastic together. If you are looking for a fresh MC series that also has some taboo elements, then this one is for you. You can check out my full review now.

Hands Down by Mariana Zapata: This is another recent release. I didn’t like this one as much as her other books that I have read, but I still enjoyed reading it. I liked that it was a second chance, friends to lovers romance. It’s one of my favourite tropes and I think it was done nicely here

Classified (The Elite #3) by Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank: I enjoyed reading Classified by Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank. It was a great conclusion to the series and brought together some great moments. This is a great little series that is great for someone that loves military romances but wants something a little different.

Captain (Morgan Brothers #2) by Lauren Rowe: I’m not entirely sure why I picked this one up. I didn’t like book one, but I did want to give another book a go. But I still didn’t like this one. The romance was bland, the characters were nothing special and the plot didn’t grab me. I just don’t think this series is for me.

Under Locke by Mariana Zapata: This has to be one of my favourite Marina Zapata books that I have read. Everything that I enjoy in a romance novel was in this one and done well. I love the romance so much in this one, it worked for me. The banter, the plot and everything else was also fantastic. I can’t wait to try more like this one.

Kings of Mayhem MC #1-#5 by Penny Dee: I didn’t know much about this series before I picked it up, but I ended up enjoying it quite a bit. All the books got between 3.5-4 stars from me. I liked the romances in all of them, the characters were fantastic, and I can’t wait to read more.

And those are some of my recent kindle unlimited reads. Have you read any of these? What did you think of them? What are some books that you have found on KU? Let’s Chat!

Recent Audiobooks on my TBR

Recent Audiobooks on my TBR

Jul 23, 2020

Over the last few months, I’ve been listening to more and more audiobooks. So today I thought I would share some recent audiobooks that I have added to my tbr.

I use to like audiobooks but it wasn’t something that I reached for at first. I’m a fast reading, so I would get through reading a book way faster than listening. But one of the things that I love about audiobooks is that it enables me to do other things while also reading.

As I said the past couple of months I’ve been listening to more and more audiobooks and really enjoying them. And I wanted to share the audiobooks that I can’t wait to read. Like always these are in no particular order.

The School for Good and Evil (The School for Good and Evil #1) by Soman Chainani: This has been a book that I’ve been planning to read for some time. It’s one of my younger sisters favourite series and she has been begging me to read it. I’ve started reading it and hope to finish it soon. But I’m enjoying it so far.

Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah: I really enjoy watching and listening to Trevor Noah and I’ve been really interested in reading his book. I’m not a massive non-fiction fan, but I think I’m going to really enjoy his one, especially since it reads it.

Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds, Ibram X. Kendi: As soon as I saw that there was going to be an updated version of Stamped with Jason Reynolds I knew that I needed it to get it. And what better way to read this than through an audiobook. I have heard nothing but fantastic things about this and I can’t wait to start it.

Wolf Hall (Thomas Cromwell Trilogy #1) by Hilary Mantel: If you don’t know already I love historical fiction and one of my favourite times in history that I love learning about is in and around the War of the Roses and 1500 Britan. I find it so fascinating, especially the time of Henry VIII. And this series has caught my eye a couple of times. So I thought I might try it on audiobook – let’s see.

The Diviners (The Diviners #1) by Libba Bray: I’ve been wanting to read this series for some time now. I tried once reading the physical version and I don’t think it was the right time. So I thought maybe the audio might help me read it. I’m excited though.

Waking Gods (Themis Files #2) by Sylvain Neuvel: I read the first book in this series on audiobook a few years ago now and I need to get to the rest of the series. I loved the first book a lot. I’m not a massive science fiction reader but this series, especially as an audiobook was fantastic.

And that is it for today’s post. What are some audiobooks that you are looking forward to reading? Do we share any that is the same? What are some of your favourite books to listen to as audiobooks? Let’s Chat!

Authors I’ve Read the Most Books By

Authors I’ve Read the Most Books By

Jul 7, 2020

This week I’m sharing my most read authors. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

There is a real mix of authors here, from middle grade to YA and romance. I actually really like this. It shows how wide I read and I find that really cool. Anyway, let’s go.

Cassandra Clare: I don’t think it’s a surprise that Cassie is on my list. She is by far one of my favourite authors. As of today, I have read 20 books from Cassandra Clare. This includes The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, The Dark Artifices, Chain of Gold as well as all the side books in the Shadowhunter chronicles as well as a few Magisterium books.

Sarina Bowen: One of the first New Adult/Romance authors that I feel in love with, I’ve read most of Sarina Bowen’s books. There is only a couple that I haven’t picked up yet. I’ve currently read 35 books by Sarina. I knew I had read a lot from her, didn’t think it was that much.

Elle Kennedy: As Sarina Bowen’s writing partner, I’ve read most of Elle’s work, both under her name and books written under a pen. At the moment I’ve read 32 of Elle Kennedy books. I like the range of genres that Elle Kennedy writes in. From NA to romantic suspense. It’s great.

Lisa Kleypas: I only started reading Lisa Kleypas last year but I’ve already read 17 of her books. This is the combination of 3 series. I think she has to be my favourite Historical Romance author at the moment. I just love her writing, her characters, her story – just everything.

Rick Riordan: The only male author on this list and the only one that matters. I have read 19 books from Rick Riordan. I just love his books so much. They are fantastic. They are written with such humour and they just make me laugh all the time. It’s one that I recommend to anyone and everyone.

Chantal Fernando: I’ve been reading Chantal Fernando’s books over the last couple of years and now I’ve read 18 books. There is still a couple of her series that I want to read but haven’t read yet. They are just fun to read. I like the romances and the MC style.

Terri Anne Browning: I did not realise until I started writing this post that I’ve read so many books from this author. I don’t even love these books they are just fun to read. I’m currently read 32 books from Terri Anne Browning. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend these books, but it’s okay.

J.R. Ward: In nearly forgot about J.R Ward, but I’ve currently read 14 books from her. 11 of those from the Black Dagger Brotherhood and then the few from her firefighters series. I plan to continue the Black Brotherhood series for sure! But I do need to take it slow, I read the first 11 nearly one after each other and got burnt out. But I can’t wait to read more.

Carrie Ann Ryan: I started reading Carrie Ann Ryan a few ago now, and as it stands I’ve read 26 of her books and plan to read more. I’m mostly reading her Montgomery Ink World. I’ve tried to read her supernatural books and didn’t enjoy it. But I do love her Montgomery Ink books for sure.

Laura Kaye: Is another author that I have read a good amount from. At the moment I’ve read 22 books from her. Across multiple series and I really enjoy her books. They are different from each other, but you still see characters worlds cross.

And that is it for this week! Whoo, that was so much fun. There were some authors that I expected to be on this list and some I’m surprised at how much I have read from them. Who are your most read authors? Do we share any that is the same? Let’s Chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
