Music, an Omega and Figure Skating | Mini Reviews

Posted by angelreads Book Reviews No Comments

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared some mini-reviews so today I thought I would share some of my thoughts on romance books I’ve recently read. My reading has been up and down recently, but I enjoyed all the books I’m talking about today.

The books I’ll be talking about today are I Like You Like That by Kayla Grosse, Laurels and Liquor (Pack Saint Clair #3) by Thora Woods and Icebreaker (UCMH, #1) by Hannah Grace. Let’s go.

I Like You Like That by Kayla Grosse

This one caught my eye a few weeks ago when I first saw it pop up on social media. I recently picked it up when I felt like reading a romance with a music star. I never understand my reading habits. But I just go with it.

I had a lot of fun reading this one. It was fun, intense, and sexy and made me smile quite a few times. After a falling out our main characters are brought together when Birdie Wilder is in need of protection.

Things are very intense at the start. Birdie and Liam didn’t leave their past friendship on great terms. At first, things are harsh between the pair. But slowly they both let their guards down, and well it’s sexy time then. I really enjoyed the music element of the book and wish there was a little bit more on that part.

Overall this book was a lot of fun. But also dealt with some hard issues. And while I did really enjoy this book, I didn’t love it but I would still recommend it.

Laurels and Liquor (Pack Saint Clair #3) by Thora Woods.

This is the third book and last book in a series that I started this year. It’s one of my most anticipated reads and I was so excited to pick it up. And while I still really enjoyed it, I was a bit disappointed.

Laurels and Liquor start off where book two finished. We are right into the thick of things and emotions are high. There are a lot of events that happen in this book, at times it was a little hard to keep track of it all, but it was tied up nicely.

I did enjoy the exploration of the romance in this one. It felt like there was much more time spent on them all. I adored seeing Lydia and Alexandra’s relationship expand more. And we just got to see them all love each other.

While I didn’t love this book as much as the first two. I thought it was a great finish to the series, and I cannot wait to read more from Thora Woods.

Icebreaker (UCMH, #1) by Hannah Grace

I’ve been seeing this one all over social media for the past few weeks. And you all know I love my sports romance. And let me tell you I loved this book so much.

The romance was hot, and sexy but also adorable. The friendships throughout the book just made me smile so much. Nathan was this adorable dad of the group and gosh I loved it.

There were a lot of ups and downs in this book. There were parts that I really enjoyed and other parts that I didn’t like. But what I did love was Anastasia and Nathan. My heart. They stole it. I just wanted them to play house all day long.

I do wish Anastasia had a little more power over what happened. But I also get why she felt the way she did at times. Overall this was such a great book and I loved so much of it. I’m really excited to continue with this series when more books come out.

And there we go. I really enjoyed all three books here in different ways and hope you enjoyed these mini reviews.  From new to me authors to a series I’ve loved already. Have you read any of these? What did you think of them? Let’s chat!

Books That Are Perfect To Read On Vacation

Posted by angelreads Uncategorized 2 Comments

This week I’m sharing then books that I think are perfect to read on vacation. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

While the weather is still not fantastic here in Melbourne. We are getting a few warmer days. This is what I think of when I hear holiday or vacation. It’s summer or spring. Nice warm weather, beaches and pools. Reading outside in the run. So today I’m sharing the books that I think are perfect for a vacation.

There is a mix of books here. But most are on the contemporary side. As I love reading books in one sitting and for some reason contemporaries allow me to do that. As always these are in no order. Let’s go.

Only When It’s Us (Bergman Brothers, #1) by Chloe Liese | Delilah Green Doesn’t Care (Bright Falls, #1) by Ashley Herring Blake. | Lovelight Farms (Lovelight, #1) by B.K. Borison | The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas.

The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke, #1) by Tessa Dare | For Vacation Only by Mila Nicks. | Truth or Dare by Danielle Allen |  Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters, #1) by Talia Hibbert.

Luna and the Lie by Mariana Zapata | Irresistible (Cloverleigh Farms, #1) by Melanie Harlow.

And there we go. Those are the books that I think are perfect to read on a vacation. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Are you planning on reading any of them? What books made it to your list? Let’s chat!

“Count to 10 With Me” Book Tag

“Count to 10 With Me” Book Tag

Posted by angelreads Book Tag No Comments

It’s time for another book tag. And today I am doing the “Count to 10 With Me” book tag. It was created by booktuber the Bumbling Blogger’s partner, Sean. While this does have Christmas roots, I thought it would be great fun to do it now.

I also love doing book tags and couldn’t stop when I stumbled across this one. It was such a blast to do and if anyone wants to do this tag, let me know! So let’s get into it.

First Book In A Series

I could have picked so many books for this one. But the first book in a series that I’ve enjoyed recently is Lovelight Farms (Lovelight, #1) by B.K. Borison. I love this series as a whole. But Lovelight Farms is quite magical and I want even more people to read it. It’s friends to lovers, fake dating, and slow burn, in a small town on a farm. What more can I say?

Two or More Copies Of The Same Book

Now I try not to buy more than one copy of any book but there are a few that I allow myself to do it for. And Cassandra Clare is one of those authors. I own multiple copies of most of her books. But my copies of  Chain of Gold (The Last Hours, #1) are some of my favourites. I have the first print paperback, the Waterstones special edition, and an ARC. Let’s just say I protect them with everything I have.

Three Colours On the Cover

Ohh this one really made me think. But it was to be Lola & the Millionaires: Part One (Sweet Omegaverse #2) by Kathryn Moon. I won’t walk about this book too much because you all know that I love it. I also love these covers. They are simple, yet striking. I love the colour combos and just everything about it.

Four or More Perspectives

This one changes with each book. But there are quite a few perspectives in The Never King (Vicious Lost Boys, #1) by Nikki St. Crowe. This series really took different perspectives and it all worked so well for each character, book and the series.

A Five-Star Read

I could have picked from so many different ones, but a recent 5-star read is Delilah Green Doesn’t Care (Bright Falls, #1) by Ashley Herring Blake. This book was *chef’s kiss* for me. I love the romance, and the plot and I can’t wait to read more.

Six or More Short Stories

There were so many anthologies that I could have picked. But I haven’t spoken about this one in a while and it deserves the love. It’s the Begin, End, Begin: A #LoveOzYA Anthology. A different genre of YA from some of the best young adult writers in Australia. If you haven’t read this, please do.

A Seven on the Cover or the Spine

Okay for the life of me. I couldn’t figure this one out.

Eight Letters in the Title

This one made me think. But then I landed on Headcase (Necessary Evils, #4) by Onley James. I love this dark and twisty series. I really enjoyed Headcase, and I now only have 2 more books in the series to read. Which makes me a little upset.

Book Ends on a Page Ending With a Nine

Okay so I went through so many books and I could not find any that ended with nine. This was hard that is for sure.

Ten Books in a Series

The Creature Cafe Series by Clio Evans is currently 10 books and I think that’s the last of it. I’ve read 8 out of the 10 at this moment, but I’m so excited to read the rest of this series. It’s dark, full of monster romance and a lot of sexy time.

And there we go. That is it for this book tag. I’m not tagging anyone but if you do it, let me know and I will check it out. What do you think of my answers? Do you agree with them? Let’s chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
