Bestie Picks Books For My TBR for 2022

Bestie Picks Books For My TBR for 2022

Posted by angelreads Best Friend TBR 1 Comment

Okay, so last year was a fail. I read maybe 2 books from my tbr. But this year I am going to do better. If you didn’t know Ely from Earl Grey Books is my bestie and for the past few years, we have picked 5 books for each other to read throughout the year. While we didn’t do great last year, I’m so excited for the books on this tbr.

A quick rundown, we pick each other 5 books from our current tbr. We give each other an extensive list of the books that we currently haven’t read and just pick books for one another. Anyway, let’s get into it. Here are the books that Ely has picked for me this year. As normal these are in no order.

Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson
Ely: I doubt that you’re that surprised that I picked this one…or probably most of the others on this list. You know that I absolutely adore Tiffany D. Jackson’s books and this was the first one of hers I ever read. Get some tissues ready because you know how we both are with books about best friends.

Angel: This has been on my tbr for some time now and I’m not surprised at all that this has made it on here. I think the main reason why I haven’t read this one yet is that I know I am going to cry and I don’t know if I’m ready for that. I cry very very easily and I know this book will make me sob.

Desperate Measures (Wicked Villains #1) by Katee Robert
E: Again, probably no surprise here. You know I read Desperate Measures a few months back and then proceeded to freak out about it for ages. Since you’ve read Electric Idol now, you need something to fill that Katee Robert gap in your heart until the next one is released.

A: I honestly do need to fill that gap. I’ve read quite a few Katee Robert books now and really enjoyed all of them. And let me tell you. This series has been on my read list for months now, and I seriously can’t believe that I haven’t started it. I’ve heard so many fantastic things about this series, and the fact that you love it. Well, that just makes me want to read it even more. I’m going to have probably started this one before this post even goes live.

Angels’ Blood by Nalini Singh
E: You introduced me to the Psy-Changeling series, so I think it’s only fair that I do the same for you and make you read at least the first Guild Hunters books. You already know Nalini is amazing, so I hope you’ll enjoy this one as much as the Psy-Changeling books.

A: The main reason why I haven’t started this series yet, as I have been waiting to buy a good chuck on the series. I binge-read the Psy-Changeling series, and I know I am going to do the same with this one. Now that I have the first 10 books or so, I am going to start it very soon. I am super excited to start this series. You love, so many people I know love it and that just makes me excited.

Circe by Madeline Miller
E: I mean, I couldn’t pass this one up, could I? I know how much you love Song of Achilles, so it’s about time you got to this one honestly. I might even do a reread myself.

A: I’m honestly not sure why I haven’t picked up this one yet. As you said I adored Song of Achilles. But I was also left in a lot of pain after reading it. And I’m not sure how I’m going to prepare for Circle. Greek Mythology retellings are some of my favourite books ever and let me tell you, I will add so many books to my tbr because of it. I know I’m going to love it. I just need to do it.

Kulti by Mariana Zapata
E: This is the only one that’ll shock you. But I’ve always been a little intrigued by this book. I know you love Mariana Zapata’s other books, so I want to know how you feel about this one and whether you think I’d enjoy it too.

A: I don’t have any reason why I haven’t picked this one up to read yet. As you said I’ve really enjoyed the other Mariana Zapata books I have read. This one is also a sports romance so it’s right up my alley. It does also have a lot of mixed reviews, so maybe that is why I have put off reading it for so long. But I am still excited to pick this one up.

And there we go. Those are the five books that Ely has picked for me to read this year. Have you read any of these books? Are you planning to? Does your bestie pick books for you to read? Check out the books that I have picked for Ely to read. Let’s chat!

Books with Character Names In the Title | TTT

Posted by angelreads Top Ten Tuesday 5 Comments

This week I’m sharing books with character names in the title. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

This was such a fun topic to do and was one that made me really think. Sometimes I already know what I am adding to the list. But this week I had to go through all the books I’ve read and pick which ones I wanted to add to my list. These aren’t necessarily all 5-star books. But they are books that I have really enjoyed reading.

Anyway, let’s get into it. Here are some of the books that I have love with character names in the title. As always these are in no order.

War (The Four Horsemen #2) by Laura Thalassa | Lola & the Millionaires: Part One (Sweet Omegaverse #2) by Kathryn Moon | Tin (Faeries of Oz #1) by Candace Robinson and Amber R. Duell | Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling #10) by Nalini Singh.

Lore by Alexandra Bracken | Halo (Fallen Angel #1) by Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine  | Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Meyer | Rafe: A Buff Male Nanny (Loose Ends #1) by Rebekah Weatherspoon.

Chasing Cassandra (The Ravenels #6) by Lisa Kleypas | The Guinevere Deception (Camelot Rising #1) by Kiersten White.

And there we go! Those are some of the books that I have loved with character names in the title. What books made it onto your list? Have you read any that made it on to mine? Let’s chat!

My Most Read Authors of 2021

Posted by angelreads Discussions No Comments

Today I thought I would do something fun. I wanted to share some of my most read authors of 2021. Previously I’ve shared some of my most read authors. But last year I read so many new authors and binged a lot of their books. And while I’m looking back at the books I read in 2021. I thought it would also be cool for me to share this list with you.

Most of the authors on this list are romance authors, which if you haven’t seen a theme already the past year. I have mostly been reading romances. Now let’s get into it. As always these are in no order.

Tate James: I think Tate is my most read author from the last year. I read 14 of Tate’s books in 2021. This includes the Madison Kate series, the Hades series and nearly all of the Kit Davenport series. I really enjoyed everything that I’ve read from Tate so far and I’m looking forward to reading more. I’m not sure if I am going to read any more of her backlist. But I am excited for her new stuff that is for sure. I like that Tate has all different genres and that makes me want to read even more.

Sophie Lark: I read 7 of Sophie Lark’s books in 2021. I read all of the Brutal Birthright series and started the Kingmakers series. I am really excited to continue with the series and more of Sophie’s books in the future. I’m loving my mafia romances even more recently and Sophie Larks are fantastic.

C.M. Stunich: Was an up and down author for me in 2021. I read 8 books from C.M. Stunich and they ranged between 3-4 stars. I really enjoyed some and then others feel flat to me. They were both reverse harems and overall I enjoyed them but didn’t love them. The Havoc Boys series is dark and not for everyone. There are things that happen in this one that I didn’t agree with. But still enjoyed overall.

Bea Paige: Along with Tate James, Bea Paige is my other most-read author of 2021. I read 14 of Paige’s books and enjoyed them all. I read the Academy of Stardom, the Deliquenct series, Brothers Freed trilogy. As well as the Finding Their Muse series and Beyond the Horizon. These books are all very different from one another in so many ways. But also take place in the same world.

Joely Sue Burkhart: I read 5 books in this author’s Their Vampire Queen series. I am really excited to continue this series and read more of their books. It’s a reverse harem paranormal romance and it just hits. The romances are great, the plot is addicting. If are looking for something a little different then pick this series up.

Nalini Singh: I read at least 9 Nalini Singh books this year. It was a combo of re-read a few books in the Psy-Chalening series and  I loved it so much. If you haven’t read this series – please do. It’s fantastic. You won’t be able to put it down once you start it. I’m so close to finishing the series now. And then I’m going to start reading the Guild Hunter series.

And there we go! Those are some of my most read authors in 2021. Have you read any of these authors? What did you think of them? Who were some of your most read authors from last year? Let’s Chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
