My Next Few Reads | July 2021

My Next Few Reads | July 2021

Jul 13, 2021

Today I thought I would do something a little different and share the new few books that I would like to read. I’m a massive mood reader, it’s really hard for me to make a tbr. I not only struggle to make one – but I struggle to keep to it. But I do plan out what I am going to read – sort of.

I don’t stick to it much, but I have an idea of what I do want to read. So today I’m sharing what I’m hoping to read in the coming weeks.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston: This is mine and Ely’s June buddy read – we are both a little behind. I’m mainly behind because work has been just a little crazy since we opened back up after lockdown. But I’m hoping to get to this one in the next few days. I’m nervous and excited to pick it up that is for sure.

The Duke (Knight Miscellany #1) by Gaelen Foley: This is one of the books that Ely picked for me at the start of the year to read and I’m hoping that I can get to it soon. I’ve been wanting to for ages, but my reading has been so up and down lately.

The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air #1) by Holly Black: This will actually be a re-read for me. I want to read the rest of the series – but I read The Cruel Prince so long ago now that I need a refresher. I just know that I did enjoy it when I read picked it up.  I’ve heard a lot of different things about the rest of the series. So I’m intrigued to see how I feel about it.

The Magic of Revenge (Emerald Lakes #3) by Britt Andrews: I am actually currently reading this one – so yay go me. I started the series early last week and while I’m not loving it, I’m really intrigued. I’m starting to read more romance fantasy/paranormal and I’m loving it.

Flash Fire (The Extraordinaries #2) by T.J. Klune: I’ve been wanting to pick this one again up for a while. I have had an e-arc of it for some time now, but I wanted to wait to read it a little closer to the release date. I ended up really enjoying the first book in this series and I’m excited to see what happened next.

And there we go. Those are the next few books that I am hoping that I can get to. Have you read any of these? Are you planning to? Let’s Chat!

Books I Want To Get To This Year

Books I Want To Get To This Year

Mar 2, 2021

Today I thought I would share the books that I hope that I can get to this year. These are either books that have been on my TBR a while or are coming out this year that I really want to read.

If you didn’t know I’m a full-time bookseller and I’ve worked in a bookstore for nearly 4 years now so I see a lot of books that I end up buying. Add to that the fact that I have been blogging for nearly 10 years and I have a big TBR. So today I’m sharing the books that I want to get to this year. Like always these are in no order.

Thicker Than Water by Brigid Kemmerer: I honestly have no idea why I haven’t read this one yet. I have no excuses. But I hope that I can get to it this year. It sounds exactly like a book that I will love. The romance sounds fantastic and I have heard some great things about it. It just sounds like my thing.

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys: Salt of the Sea is one of my all-time favourite books and I have heard nothing but good things about Between Shades of Gray and I need to get on it. It’s my type of historical fiction and it just sounds brilliant.

Tone Deaf by Olivia Rivers: This has been on my list for years now, ever since it came out really. And I have no idea why I haven’t read it yet. It sounds like such a fascinating book plus it features disability and you know that is what I am always looking for.

Not If I See You First by Eric Lindstrom: This is another book that features a disability that has been on my TBR for some time. I’ve read another book from the author and really enjoyed it, so I have some high hopes for this one.

The Bromance Book Club (Bromance Book Club #1) by Lyssa Kay Adams: Let’s just say it’s not my fault that I haven’t read this one. I have waited nearly a year or this book to arrive and hopefully, it will come soon. Cause I want to read it so bad!

Chasing Lucky by Jenn Bennett: I’m hoping to get to this one in the next couple of months. I love Jenn Bennett and this one just sounds fantastic and exactly what I would love. But I haven’t picked it up yet for some reasons. Hopefully soon.

These Violent Delights (These Violent Delights #1) by Chloe Gong: I bought this late last year and still need to get on in. It’s Shakespeare retelling and I love those – I love any retellings really. I’ve heard so many good things about this and I want to get to it before the sequel comes out.

The One You Fight For (The Ones Who Got Away #3) by Roni Loren: I read the first two books in this series last year and really enjoyed reading them – a lot. And now I’m really excited to finish this series off. But also these are super emotional and I have to take breaks between the books.

Girl Out of Water by Laura Silverman: This has been on my TBR for a while and I can’t believe that I haven’t read it yet. I hope I can do it in the next couple of months.

Circe by Madeline Miller: I cannot give you an answer as to why I haven’t read this one. I got it as soon as it came out but just haven’t read it yet. But I feel like I’m going into a mythology kick so I might pick it up soon. Again I have heard such good things about this one.

From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I finally got my copy a few weeks ago so I can read it soon. I’ve been putting it off for a while cause everyone seems to love it. But I’ve also really enjoyed all the other books I’ve read from Jennifer so I should just get on it.

The Stray Prince (Royals #2) by Ella Fields: I totally didn’t realise that there was going to be a sequel to A King so Cold, but I grabbed this one as soon as it was out. I’ve been so nervous to read it though because it could go anywhere and I’m not ready for that.

And that is it. Those are some of the books that I want to read this year! Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Are you planning on reading them? Let’s Chat!

Historical Romances That I Want To Read | TBR

Historical Romances That I Want To Read | TBR

Nov 28, 2020

Today I thought I would share some of the historical romances that are currently on my tbr. I’ve been reading more and more historical romances in this and there are so many more that I want to read. So today I wanted to share some of those that are on my list.

There are books on this list that I own and some that I have on my wish list. There are some books on this list from authors that I haven’t tried yet, and some from those that I love. Some of these books have been published. And some and set to come out next year. So let’s get into it. Like always these are in order.

The Wallflower Wager (Girl Meets Duke #3) by Tessa Dare: I just finished the second book in this series and I cannot wait to read this one. Penelope just sounds so damn interesting and this new love interest – yes, please. I also can’t wait for the 4th book in this series either – which is meant to be out in 2021.

Never Seduce a Scoundrel (School For Heiresses #1) by Sabrina Jeffries: I recently finished another one of Sabrina’s series this month and I’m so excited to start this one. I have heard some really great things about it – and it sounds like it’s going to fun, that is for sure.

The Duke (Knight Miscellany #1) by Gaelen Foley: I picked this one up earlier this year on a whim. I didn’t know too much about the author or the book. But Ely recently enjoyed reading it and that is a massive plus for me. It sounds intriguing and different from other historical romances that I’ve read before and that makes me excited.

The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia Quinn: And the rest of this series. I adored The Duke and I so much, that I already bought the rest of this series. And I can’t wait to read them all. I feel in love with the characters, the plot, the writing. Everything and anything and I can’t wait to read more.

The Perfect Rake (The Merridew Sisters #1) by Anne Gracie: I bought this one I think last year, and I just haven’t picked it up yet. But I really want to in the next couple of months. It sounds like something that I will enjoy.

A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels #1) by Sarah MacLean: Like Sabrina Jeffries, I just finished a series from Sarah MacLean and I’m excited to start another one. I picked this one up after loving the books that I had already read and I’m excited to try something a little then her current series.

Someone to Watch Over Me (Bow Street Runners #1) by Lisa Kleypas: You should all know by now how much I love Lisa Kleypas and I can’t wait to start a new series. This one sounds really interesting and not something that I have read before. And that makes me intrigued and excited.

An Earl, the Girl, and a Toddler (Rogues and Remarkable Women #2) by Vanessa Riley: While I didn’t love the first book in this series, I do want to continue with it. Especially because this one sounds so interesting. I love historical romances where there are children like this. It just makes it much more interesting.

The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Mackenzies & McBrides #1) by Jennifer Ashley: This book jumped on my radar only recently. And it caught me right away. I’m always looking for books, especially historical romances with disabilities and I can’t wait to read it.

The Heiress Hunt (The Fifth Avenue Rebels #1) by Joanna Shupe: This just sounds like it’s going to be fun. I love friends to lovers kind of romance. And if this goes the way I think it might that makes me want it evermore. This is also a new to me author and that makes me super excited.

And that is it for today! Those are only some of the historical romances that I can’t wait to dig into soon. There are just so many that I want to read and I cannot wait.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I onl Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I only ended up reading 3 books in. 3 pretty fun books but one of my slowest readings months in a while.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
