Banned and Challenged Books On My TBR

Banned and Challenged Books On My TBR

Oct 3, 2020

The week of September 27-October 3 marks Banned Books Week. And I thought I would share some of the banned and challenged books that I currently want to read.

Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read. It also highlights current and past attempts at challenging and banning books across libraries and schools. You can find out more about Banned Books Week on the ALA website.

So today I’m taking my stand by sharing the books that I want to read that have been frequently banned and challenged. There is a range of books on this from young adult to middle grade.

George by Alex Gino: This has been banned and challenged for it’s LGBTQIA+ content, sexual references as well as conflicting religious viewpoints and the notion of “traditional family structure”. This has been on my tbr for some time now. I have a copy now and I’m excited and to pick this one up.

A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo by Jill Twiss and illustrated by E.G. Keller: This has been challenged for it’s LGBTQIA+ content and political viewpoints. This one looks adorable! I have fallen in love with the cover and it sounds like it’s going to be an amazing read. It has some incredible reviews.

Drama by Raina Telgemeier: Drama has been challenged for it’s challenged for LGBTQIA+ content. This one has been on my tbr for some time now. It’s one that we sell so well at work and I’ve always banned to pick not only this one up but anything by Raina Telgemeier. I’m so glad that we sell so many copies of Drama at work.

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie: This has been banned and challenged for many things including; sexual references, profanity, violence and religious viewpoints. This has been on my tbr for years now, but I just haven’t picked it up. I want to have this read but halfway through next year for sure!

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson: This has been challenged for its content that glorifies drinking, cursing, and premarital sex. Speak has been on my TBR since I heard about it. It is one that I have heard incredible things about and I know that I have to be in the right frame of mind for it.

Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan: This has been challenged and burned for including LGBTQIA+ content. I heard David Levitan speak a few years ago now and it was pretty amazing and since then I’ve wanted to read his books. This is at the top of my list and I hope that I can get to it soon. I’ve already read a few by him and adored them so I can’t wait.

And that is it, those are some of the banned and challenged books on my TBR. What banned and challenged books do you want to read? What are some that you have read? Let’s Chat!

Current Kindle Unlimited TBR

Current Kindle Unlimited TBR

Sep 28, 2020

I love sharing my Kindle Unlimited TBR. Not only do I get to share what I’m excited to read, but sometimes it helps me pick up my next book. I haven’t been reading many Kindle Unlimited books recently as I’ve had a lot of books on my tbr that I wanted to go through. However the past week I’ve picked up a few. Anyway, let’s get right into it. These are the current books that I have with Kindle Unlimited like always these are in no order.

Pestilence (The Four Horsemen #1) by Laura Thalassa: This has been on my TBR for a while, but I just never felt like picking it up. I’ve just started getting more into Paranormal/Fantasy romance, so hopefully, I can pick this one up soon. I have heard some great things about it.

Fire in His Blood (Fireblood Dragon #1) by Ruby Dixon: I feel the same about this one as I do Pestilence. I’ve been wanting to read it for a while, but I have just never got the chance. Hopefully, I can knock it down soon. It sounds interesting and I want to read more romance genre for sure. It’s not something that I would normally pick up, but call me intrigued.

Conquest (Dragon Bones, #1) by Celeste Harte: I don’t know too much about this one, but I saw some review for it and it sounded incredible. I’m always excited when I pick up a book that I have no idea about. It makes for an interesting read and a surprise.

The Player Next Door by K.A. Tucker: I have heard some fantastic things about K.A Tucker and this is one of her books that caught my eye. It sounds intriguing and something that I would love. I normally don’t too much contemporary romacne without it being part of a sub-genre. But I want to read more romance for sure. And this one sounds interesting.

Me + Somebody’s Son: A Heights Story by Christina C. Jones: I know nothing about this book and I mean nothing. All I know is that everyone has been loving it. There is no synopsis for it on Goodreads and even the one on Amazon doesn’t tell me much. But if people that I trust are enjoying it, then I’m giving it a go.

Birthday Shot by Rilzy Adams: This is another one that I have been hearing amazing things about and just want to pick up and read. This is a little short one, but it also sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun.

A Flick Between Friends (On the Clock Series Book 4):A lot of the books currently on this list is because of twitter and other romance bloggers. I don’t know a lot about this one, but it sounds like it’s going to be a fun read. I’ve been hearing some fantastic things about it as well.

Boomer (Ruthless Kings MC #2) by K.L. Savage: I read the first book in this series recently and liked it, but I think I need to read at least one more book in the series before I decided to keep on reading. I like reading MC books, they are a great way to break up my reading and have a little fun.

Wait for It by Mariana Zapata: I’ve been slowly making my way through Mariana Zapata’s books and this is the next one on my list. It sounds fantastic and it currently has such a high rating that it makes me even more excited. I’ve enjoyed reading her books a lot and I think this one is going to be a fantastic read.

Nikolai (The Volkov Empire, #2) by Crystal Daniels and Sandy Alvarez: I’ve been making my way through Crystal and Sandy’s books this year and this is the one that I’m currently up to. It’s an interesting series that one and feels different from the other books that I have read from the duo. Interested to see what happens next.

And those are the books that I currently have out from Kindle Unlimited. What should I read first? Have you read any of these? Let’s Chat!

Books On My Current Wish List

Books On My Current Wish List

Sep 17, 2020

Today I thought I would share some of the books that are currently on my wish list. These are the books that I want to get my hands on very soon. Some are new releases, some are backlist titles of authors I’m loving. If I was at work these are the books that I would be ordering for myself. Like always these are in no order.

That Scandalous Summer (Rules for the Reckless #1) by Meredith Duran: I don’t know too much about this one, but it sounds like something that I would enjoy a lot. I’m always looking for new historical romances and this one sounds like it’s going to be such a fantastic read.

Sin and Ink (Sweetest Taboo #1) by Naima Simone: I read the WAGS series earlier this month and loved it too bits and this series is one of hers that is on the top of my list. It sounds exactly what I’m looking for in a new romance. Plus the male protagonist works in a tattoo shop so, I’m here.

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett: This is not something that I would normally read, but it caught my eye as soon as I read the synopsis. Add to that I have heard so many good things about it, I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Legendborn (Legendborn #1) by Tracy Deonn: This is another one that I don’t know too much about. But it sounds amazing. It sounds incredible. And exactly what I love to read. It’s modern but pulls on myths and legends. I am so here for it. Plus look at that cover!

The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller: This one didn’t catch my eye until recently. I saw it popping up on my twitter and Goodreads timeline again and again. And then I read the synopsis. The Widow of Rose Hill sounds fascinating and so many people I follow and trust have loved it.

All These Monsters (Monsters #1) by Amy Tintera: I can’t believe I haven’t picked All These Monsters up yet. I have loved all of Amy Tintera’s books that I have read and this one sounds so interesting and something that I would enjoy a lot.

The rest of the Psy-Changeling by Nalini Singh: I now have 1-5, but I want to get the whole series. I love it so much already and I know that I will most likely love the rest of the series. This is a big one and it’s going to take me a while to read it all. But I can’t wait. My plan is to buy these in lots of 3 books.

None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney: There should be no surprise that this one has made it onto my list. I’ve loved all the Ellie Marney books that I have read and this one sounds like it’s going to be dark and sinister. I know I’m going to love this book.

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas: I want to read this one so much. It sounds like it’s going to be fabulous and fantastic. This has so many things that I look for and love and I’ve just heard so many amazing things about it.

And that it is for today’s post. These are some of the books that are currently on my wish list. I hope I can get some of them soon at least. They all sound fantastic and I can’t wait to dive in. What books are on your wish list? Let’s Chat!

I had such a great time reading this book. I didn’ I had such a great time reading this book. I didn’t know what to expect, but at the same time it was exactly what I wanted.

Driven is an entertaining, suspenseful new adult romance debut that has a second chance romance, is brothers best friend and has fast cars.

It’s one of those books that is perfect for those looking for something that they won’t want to put down, leave them second guessing and wanting more.

It’s full of second changes, finding yourself and falling for the one person that is forbidden.

This is all such a great debut novel that makes me want to read more from Emma J Warrender.
