Top Ten Tuesday

Characters I’d Name a Pet After | TTT

Characters I’d Name a Pet After | TTT

Nov 17, 2020

This week I’m sharing the characters that I would like to name a pet after. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I want to get a cat so bad. I’ve had two cats over the years, with a mix of birds and fish. And while getting a cat at the moment isn’t possible I hope that I can get one of my own soon. So today I thought I would share the characters that I would name a pet after.

Lucy from The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune: I mean how couldn’t I. I can’t with Lucy at all. Every time he opened his mouth, I just laugh. He tries to be this antichrist, but in reality, he is a little boy who just wants to be loved. I think it would be a perfect name for a little black cat.

Kit from The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare: I mean why not? Kit is one of my favourite characters of all time and I cannot wait for him to get this own series. I’m dying to know more about him and the life he is living at the moment.

Luc from Origin series by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Luc is a blast of a character and I think he also makes for the perfect name for any little kitten that I may get.

Annabeth from Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan: I mean I could name my pet after many of the characters in this series and be happy. But not only do I love the name Annabeth. But she is also the daughter of my favourite goddess and that just works for me so much.

Daisy from Wallflowers by Lisa Kleypas: Not only do I love Daisy so much, but I also adore the name. I can just imagine it now and It makes me want to have a little kitten so bad.

Jagger from Eyes Turned Skyward (Flight & Glory #2) by Rebecca Yarros: He just so happens to be one of my favourite characters from this series and I think it would make an adorable name for a little fluff ball. And in reality, I would name a pet after many of Yarros characters.

Riley from Branded by Fire (Psy-Changeling #6) by Nalini Singh: I mean I would name my pet after many of the characters in this series. without a doubt, but this is my most recent read and I adore Riley so much.

Lada Dragwlya from The Conqueror’s Saga by Kiersten White: If you don’t know already I adore this series. It’s one of my favourites and it’s one that I’m always recommending. And If I could name my pet after any fierce and strong female, it would be Lada for sure.

And those are some of the characters that I would name my pet after. Are any of these on your list? What characters would or have you named your pet after? Let’s Chat!

Book Titles that Would Make Great Song Titles

Book Titles that Would Make Great Song Titles

Nov 10, 2020

This week I’m sharing the book titles that I think would make great song titles. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

This was such a fun thing to do. I love music, and then finding book titles that might make some great song titles was such a fascinating thing to do. Anyway, let’s get into it. Like always these are in no order.

Playing with Fire by L.J. Shen: This such sounds like it’s going to be an intense song, but it could also be a love ballad and I’m in for any of those.

The Year We Hid Away (The Ivy Years #2) by Sarina Bowen: Taylor Swift could write this song, and I’m all here for that. Seriously I’m always here for new Taylor Swift.

No Place to Run (KGI #2) by Maya Banks: This one sounds like it would be a great pop song, but it could also be a country song and that sounds pretty epic too.

Devil’s Daughter (The Ravenels #5) by Lisa Kleypas: In any genre of music this would be the perfect title for a song. It could go any way.

The Ones Who Got Away (The Ones Who Got Away #1) by Roni Loren: If this doesn’t sound like a great pop song then I don’t know what does. I can already hear it.

This is How We Change the Ending by Vikki Wakefield: This could totally be another Taylor Swift song, just saying.

Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales: Another pop song title ready and waiting. Or it would be a country or maybe been RnB. It could be a lot of things.

Welcome to the Dark Side (The Fallen Men #2) by Giana Darling: This would be an epic song. It would be dark and dangerous and strong. And hell yeah.

Prince Charming (Royals #1) by Rachel Hawkins: If this isn’t a title for a pop song I don’t know what it. I think it would be perfect and it. I feel like it could be such a fantastic song too.

Only When It’s Us (Bergman Brothers #1) by Chloe Liese: This song could go either way. It could be a sad, solemn song. Or an upbeat, romantic song. Nevertheless, I can’t figure out which.

And that is it for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday! What are some book titles that you think would make great song titles? Do we share any that is the same? Let’s Chat!

Things I Like To Do Other Than Read

Things I Like To Do Other Than Read

Nov 3, 2020

This week I’m sharing some of my Non-Bookish Hobbies. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I normally don’t talk too much about things other than books here, but with this week Top Ten Tuesday I thought it would be fun to share some of the things that I like doing other than reading.

Cross-stitch: I only started cross-stitching this year and it’s been a great way to relax and just do something with my hands. I also have a bad habit of buying more and more patterns before I’ve even finished one. Some of my favourite patterns have come from WhiteRavenPatterns

Binge Watch TV Shows: One of my favourite things to do especially recently is binge watch tv shows. It’s the perfect way for me to wind down and relax for bed. Some of my recent favourites have been Criminal Minds, Hawaii 5-0 and right now I’m watching CSI: Miami.

Going to musicals: If you follow me on social or even here you know that I love Musicals. So this year has been a little bit of a downer on that part. I did have tickets to a number of musicals this year that obviously didn’t go ahead. Hopefully, everything is back running soon. However, some of my favourites that I’ve seen in the last year have been Hamilton when I was in NY and London and Come from Away here in Melbourne.

Going to the beach: One of my favourite things to do in the summer is head to the beach. I live in a pretty awesome state where a beach isn’t too far from me. I love sitting on the sand, swimming in the water and just chilling. I’ve been pretty much going to the beach since I can remember and it’s just seriously the best.

Drawing: This has been something that I’ve been doing since I was much younger. I love to draw and while I’m not perfect at it, I can draw a little. It’s again something that I like to do as a distraction and just to let my creative side work. Lately, I’ve been using my Ipad and Apple pencil to draw which I love cause no mess!

Travelling: While this isn’t something that I can do now, I love to travel. I just going to new places and finding out new things. I did have a trip planned for Disney the September that just passed. But with our borders currently closed, I can’t go anywhere. Hopefully, soon they can open up and we can be on our way back.

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
