Top Ten Fandoms I Am Part Of

Top Ten Fandoms I Am Part Of

Apr 4, 2017

TTT - Fandoms

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone join as you please. This week’s topic is: Top Ten Fandom’s I Am Part Of.

I’ve been a part of lots of fandoms over the years, some I have grown out of and some have stuck with me since I was 5. When I love something, I love it a lot and that goes for books/movies/TV shows – it’s something that has always been a part of me. But, today I talk about 10 fandoms that I feel that I currently part of. Some of these fandoms I interact more than others, but I still love then all. Like always these are in particular order.

Bookish Fandoms

Shadowhunters: Cassie Clare always seems to pop up in my of my TTT. Now, this isn’t on purpose, but I do love her books and being part of this fandom is a little crazy at times. I’ve loved the shadowhunter books for about 5 or 6 years now and I don’t think I am going to sway from this fandom for a while – plus I have an angelic rune tattoo.

Harry Potter: Again another one that I don’t think you will be surprised of. Harry Potter has been in my life since I was 5 years old – I am turning 21 this year. It’s been a long time and I could never get sick of it. I also have a deathly hallows tattoo.

Vampire Academy: I haven’t talked about these books in a while, but VA is why I read YA today. It’s what got me to love this readership and being part of this fandom is great. Even though the books finished a couple of years ago, I still feel love for the books and the readers.

TV Fandoms

Just a quick note, I know a couple of these are books, but I more of a lover of the TV series.

The 100: I first starting watching this because of two people; Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor, I grew up watching them on my TV and when I heard that they are in this US TV show, I was like hell yeah. And then I watched it and become addicted. I’m not caught up with this season as I always forget and just don’t have the time. But, I plan to binge watch soon.

Game of Thrones: I’ve tried to read these books a couple of times now – but I just couldn’t get into it. However, the TV show – give me more. I love every week watching and seeing twitter go wild and its just so much fun!

Vikings: I have always been a history buff for as long as I can remember, so this show captured my attention from the get-go – and then I heard that Alexander Ludwig was going to be in and I knew that I had to watch it. I am in love now – just so good.

Movie Fandoms

Disney: Again this is another fandom I’ve been brought up into and it’s never going to change. I am 21 and still love my Disney and do not care. I will sing Disney songs all the time. I love going to Disney movies and just it’s so much fun.

Marvel: If you follow me on twitter then you know I love my Marvel. I never really got into the comics – I just didn’t have any when I grew up, but I am hoping to get into them soon. In saying that, I try and go to every Marvel movie the first day. It’s a tradition in my famil and it’s so much fun.

Music Fandoms

Taylor Swift: If you follow me on twitter then you may know I am a massive Swifty, have been for a very long time. I’ve been to all but 1 of her tours her in Australia and I love can’t. Her last tour I took my youngest sister with me on one of the nights and we ended up being upgraded to Row A – best night ever.

Bruno Mars: I have very weird music taste – I like most things. But, Burno Mars – is just brilliant. Not only is he an amazing performer, but vocally he is incredible. I’ve seen him on both tours here in Australia and just – wow.

And that is it this week! What fandoms are you part of? Do we share any that is the same? What is your favourite fandom? Let’s Chat!

TTT - Authors Dying to Meet

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone join as you please. This week’s topic is Top Ten Authors I’m Dying To Meet

Living in Australia has a downfall for book lovers – it’s too far for most authors to travel. I’ve met a heap of Aussie authors and even some international including David Levithan and Sarah J Mass. In saying this here is my list of authors that I cannot wait to meet and I hope that it’s soon. These are in no particular order – except maybe for the first one.

Cassandra Clare: Now I don’t this one should be a surprise to most of you. Cassie Clare has to be one of my favourite authors at the moment. She came to Australia last year and I was unable to aff0rd travelling interstate. I hope that one day it will happen.

Richelle Mead: Mead has been one of my favourite authors for a long time. Her books are what brought me to YA – and I have never looked back. The last time she was here was before I even picked her books up and before I was into blogger.

J.K Rowling: Again another author that I don’t think you will be surprised with. Harry Potter has been with me my whole life and to meet the person that created that, who shaped my life. It would be an experience that I cannot even begin to explain.

V.E Schwab: This is an only a new to me author. Obvious she has been around for a while, but I’ve just started to read her books and I love them. Plus I love her on social media.

Katie McGarry:  Is one of my favourite contemporary authors. I’ve read every single one of her books and to meet her would be amazing. Plus my younger sister has also loved her books – it’s something that we can do together.

Rebecca Yarros: I’ve been reading Rebecca Yarros books for 2-3 years and I love them. She is one of the authors that introduced me into NA and I love it. I’ve read most of her books now and I cannot wait for more.

Angie Thomas: This is a new favourite author for me. I mean yes I’ve only read The Hate U Give – but it was brilliant. I want to meet the author behind this raw and real story, that tore me apart.

Heidi Heilig: The Girl from Everywhere was one of my favourite books last and I love was Heidi stands for on twitter and across her platforms. Again, I live on the other side of the world – so it’s hard sometimes.

Claudia Gray: Another author that helped me love YA. I recently read her new book Defy the Stars and really enjoyed and cannot wait to read some of her newer titles. As far as I know she hasn’t made her way to Australia – maybe one day.

Amy Tintera: I’ve been reading Amy’s books for a couple of years now and I just love then so much. Ruined was again one of my favourite books I read last year and I am so excited to read more from here.

And that is it for this week! Who are some of the authors that you are dying to meet? Do we share any of the same? Have you met some of the authors on my list? Let’s Chat!

Top Ten Books I Read In One Day

Top Ten Books I Read In One Day

TTT - One Day

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone join as you please. This week’s topic is: Top Ten Books I Read in One Day

This weeks theme is all about reading in one sitting or along those lines. And to tell you the truth, I do this a lot. I am a relatively fast reader and I can knock out books in a couple of hours. Sometimes I do take a break, but it’s pretty normal for me to start and finish a book in a day. If it’s a contemporary and I have nothing else to do, it’s going to be read in a day.

One Day 1

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare: Now I wouldn’t normally read a 600+ page book in a day, however, I was at home recovering from my wisdom teeth operation and before I knew it. I had finished the book. Cassandra Clare brings the magic of the shadow world into a new light, in a gripping first novel of a new series, Lady Midnight is dark, fun and full of ups and down, it is going to rip your heart apart | Full Review

This Beats Perfect by Rebecca Denton: Earlier this year I went on a cruise, and for one of those days, I just sat by the pool and just read it all day. It’s the perfect book to sit and enjoy. This Beats Perfect is fun, addicting and put a smile on my face. It explores the notions of finding yourself, loving what you do and finding those who will stand by you. It’s about family, friendship and those you love | Full Review

A Thousand Letters by Staci Hart: When I get immersed in a novel, it’s hard for me to get out, and this is what happened with A Thousand Letters. Overall, It’s a heartbreaking read and will leave you an emotional wreck. It’s about family, friends and second chances. It’s about forgiveness, letting go and falling in love | Full Review

One day 2

The Deal Series by Elle Kennedy: If it’s new adult and contemporary – a one day read is high in odds. I loved reading these books. Ice hockey, fun and a little heartbreaking at times.

Vigilante by Kady Cross: I started this on the way to uni and by that night I had finished it. Vigilante explores the notion of rape culture, grief, family, friend, and love. It’s honest, heartbreaking, empowering and confronting, but a must-read | Full Review Coming Soon

The Secret Science of Magic by Melissa Keil: So I was lucky enough to read this while at my internship and I spent the whole day reading it and falling in love. It’s fun, crazy and put a smile on my face. But, it’s also heartbreaking.

One Day 3

The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski: I couldn’t help myself. I needed to know how it was going to end. What was going to happen? The Winner’s Kiss takes you on a journey like no other, it captures your heart but wreaks your emotions, and it will break you and put you together over and over again until the last page | Full Review

Ruined by Amy Tintera: This book was addicting. I didn’t want it to end, but I wanted to know how it would end. Ruined explores what people would do for revenge, how our thoughts are created by our surroundings and how our feelings can change for people you think that you hate. It was a brilliant, high fantasy and I am ecstatic to read more | Full Review

Disruption by Jessica Shirvington: I don’t know why I put off reading this for so long. Because it was so good. With enthralling characters, an engrossing world and a plot that just keeps you right there in the action Disruption is a must read for everyone that loves YA and beyond | Full Review.

One Day 4

This Is What Goodbye Looks Like by Oliva Rivers: Another contemporary that I couldn’t stop reading. It’s a beautiful story about grief, family, love, forgiveness and doing what is right.

And that is it for this week! Do you read books in a sitting or in one day? Nevertheless, have you read any of these books in one day? However, have you never read a book in a day? Let’s Chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
