Colourful Book Covers On My TBR

Colourful Book Covers On My TBR

Apr 20, 2021

This week I’m sharing the books that colourful covers that are on my tbr. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

Today I’m sharing the books that are on my tbr that have gorgeous colourful covers. From a rainbow of colours to a few that just make the cover pop, here are the colours that I love. Like always these are in order.

The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton | May the Best Man Win by Z.R. Ellor | In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens  | Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley

To Love and to Loathe (The Regency Vows #2) by Martha Waters | Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey | 100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons | All Our Hidden Gifts (All Our Hidden Gifts #1) by Caroline O’Donoghue

Not So Pure and Simple by Lamar Giles | Sweethand (Island Bites #1) by N.G. Peltier

After doing this post, it’s come to my attention that I love soft colours on my covers. I like the pastel pinks and purples. With oranges and yellows. And then I like this pop of bright colours. But I also happen to like hard and moody covers.

And those are some of the colourful covers that I adore and that are on my tbr. Have you read any of these books? What did you think? What colourful covers made it to your post this week?

My Current Kindle Unlimited TBR | April 2021

Apr 15, 2021

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so today I thought I would share my Kindle Unlimited TBR. If you don’t know Kindle Unlimited is a subscription service where you can borrow certain books from Amazon and then read them for ‘free.’

I love using KU, especially for my romance reads. I have found some gems on there including Giana Darling’s ‘Fallen Men series‘, Den of Vipers by K.A Knight, A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair and more. I have also come along some pretty bad ones – but that is the way it goes. My current tbr is a mix of contemporary romances, fantasy romances and the one that I always love to read my MC romances. Some have been on my tbr for some time, and there are some that a new. So let’s get into it, like always these are in no order.

Pestilence (The Four Horsemen #1) by Laura Thalassa: This has been on my tbr the longest and I need to get on it. It does also happen to be one of the books that Ely picked for me to read this year. So I will be getting to it for sure. Ely enjoyed reading this one and this is not normally her thing, and as it’s mine I can’t wait.

Fire in His Blood (Fireblood Dragons #1) by Ruby Dixon: I really want to read more fantasy romance and this one just sounds fantastic. I’ve heard great things about it, but it also sounds like it’s just going to be an interesting read. I have not read anything like it. And that makes me even more excited.

Me + Somebody’s Son: A Heights Story by Christina C. Jones: I saw this one floating around a little while ago and it sounded really interesting. It’s another one that I have heard some great things about. And I want to try and get to it soon.

A Flick Between Friends (On the Clock #4) by Shae Sanders: I’m not sure what to expect from this book. It’s not my usual read, but it sounds fantastic. I like pushing myself out of my comfort zone a little and this sounds like it will.

Bait by Jade West: I don’t know too much about this one. I was browsing the books on Kindle Unlimited and it popped up. It sounded like something a little to what I normally read,  so I grabbed a copy. I haven’t had the chance to read it yet but I hope that I can get to it soon.

The Stray Prince (Royals #2) by Ella Fields: I’m nervous to pick this book up, hence why it has been sitting on my Kindle since it came out. The first book took me by surprise and I ended up loving it. And now I’m not sure what to expect from book two. I thought it was going to be a standalone so I was feeling pretty okay with the ending – and now I don’t know what is going to happen.

A Touch of Ruin (Hades & Persephone #2) by Scarlett St. Clair: I read the first book in this series on a whim. I had seen it all over the book world and I was in the mood for a mythology retelling. And it hit the spot – and then I realised it was a series and I grabbed the second book as soon as I finished. I can’t wait to read it now.

Enthralled (The Enslaved Duet #1) by Giana Darling: I’m still not sure if I am going to read this one. I loved Giana’s Fallen Men series, but this one is a little different for me. I’ve slowly started to read more dark romances, but this is a little heavy for me. I might get to it, I might now – let’s see.

Rhapsodic (The Bargainer #1) by Laura Thalassa: As I said before I’ve been getting more into fantasy romances and this one has been on my radar for some time now. I have heard fantastic things about this series and the synopsis grabbed me right away. It sounds dark and mysterious and I’m all here for that.

Blind Deception: Kings of Retribution MC Montana by Sandy Alvarez and Crystal Daniels: I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve read from this duo far and this is the newest book from them. I’m so excited and can’t wait to get back into this world. And I mean it’s an MC book and this one sounds so good!

And those are it. They are the book that I currently have on my Kindle Unlimited TBR. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Are you planning to? What are some books that I need to add to my KU tbr asap? Let’s Chat!

Ever After Always (Bergman Brothers #3) by Chloe Liese

Pages: 359
Publish date: January 12th 2021
Publisher: –
ISBN: 9798575450733
Purchase: Book Depository – Amazon UK – Amazon US – Amazon AU

Aiden

I’ve spent twelve years loving Freya Bergman and twelve lifetimes won’t be enough to give her everything she deserves. She’s my passionate, tender-hearted wife, my best friend, and all I want is to make her happy. But the one thing that will make her happiest is the one thing I’m not sure I can give her: a baby.

With the pressure of providing and planning for a family, my anxiety’s at an all-time high, and I find myself pulling away, terrified to tell my wife how I’m struggling. But when Freya kicks me out, I realize that pulling back has turned into pushing too far. Now it’s the fight of a lifetime to save our marriage.

Freya

I love my cautious, hard-working husband. He’s my partner and best friend, the person I know I can count on most. Until one day I realize the man I married is nowhere to be found. Now Aiden is quiet and withdrawn, and as the months wear on, the pain of our growing distance becomes too much.

As if weathering marriage counselling wasn’t enough, we’re thrown together for an island getaway to celebrate my parents’ many years of perfect marriage while ours is on the brink of collapse. Despite my meddling siblings and a week in each other’s constant company, this trip somehow gets us working through the trouble in paradise. I just can’t help worrying, when we leave paradise and return to the real world, will trouble find us again?

Ever After Always:

I received an earc of Ever After Always by Chloe Liese via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

Last year I read the first two books in this series and absolutely adored them, so when I read the synopsis and heard who this one was about, I was super excited.  I don’t read many books about married couples, so this was a new experience for me and I loved it.

Ever After Always follows Aiden and Freya, who have loved each other for over 10 years, but now their marriage is in crisis. And now they both have to overcome fears, dream and the thought of failure. As Freya parents marriage anniversary is coming up, they have to put aside their differences and difficulties and put on a brave face. And it’s hard for both of them, but as they start to be together more, they start to understand each other again.

I adored both Freya and Aiden. I loved that we got to see a Bergman sister, it was a different vibe than the previous books, but it worked so well. While the reader sees them both go through some hard times, they also get to see them fall in love once again and that was beautiful.

One of my favourite things about this series is the way that it explores disability and illness. Each book has explored something extremely well. It has not only been presented in such a fantastic way, but it also isn’t riddled down to stereotypes. Ever After Always explored anxiety, the pressure of having children and more. I loved how Chloe Liese explored Aiden’s anxiety and how it affected multiple parts of his life. I love how it wasn’t fixed right away, how being with Freya wasn’t the cure. But how they both could work together, as well as Aiden helping himself, to overcome and prevail.

Overall, I adored this book and this series. If you haven’t picked it up, please do. You may cry and want to hold onto something right, but they are all unique and just fantastic reads. I can’t wait to read more books in the series.

Thunder (Hell’s Handlers MC #10) by Lilly Atlas

Pages: 353
Publish date: November 3rd 2020
Publisher: –
ASIN: B08LQMD4HB
Purchase: Amazon UK – Amazon US – Amazon AU

Makenna has a past she’d rather bury deep in her mind. Unfortunately, as the sole guardian for her five siblings, forgetting where they came from isn’t possible. All she can hope for is to provide her loved ones the kind of untroubled childhood she’d always dreamed of and keep them far away from where she grew up. Friendships and relationships, especially the romantic variety, don’t rank on her priority list. That is until she’s introduced to a hot biker whose playful personality and mesmerizing smile would make any woman perk up and take notice, even one with more responsibilities than sense.

Thunder has seen it all, done it all, and has no interest in the high maintenance, in-your-face, party girls. Give him a no-frills woman, like the diner’s adorable new waitress, who doesn’t play games rather than a scantily clad bimbo who manipulates men for sport. Makenna is precisely the kind of fun he needs to celebrate patching with the Hell’s Handlers MC. Only he quickly discovers Makenna is a package deal with more baggage than a carefree guy like him can handle.

With each passing day, Thunder finds himself increasingly drawn to Makenna despite her mountain of responsibilities and his distrust of relationships. Even crazier is how some of her siblings are working their way under his skin and into his heart, as is Makenna.

Just as Thunder starts thinking about dates and promises, the CDMC roars back into his life. They’re responsible for his beloved club brother’s death, and he wants nothing more than to make them suffer.

When the threats start coming, and Makenna finds herself caught in the crossfire, Thunder will discover exactly the kind of man he is, and how far he’s willing to go to keep Makenna and her siblings in his life.

Thunder:

This is another series that I started last year and when I heard that the last book in the series was going to be about Thunder, I was super excited. From the start when he is introduced, he just stood out and I enjoyed reading his story.

Thunder takes a very different turn from other books in the series and I wasn’t expecting that. I didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t what I was expecting at all. It much darkens than the other books in the series, which is hard for an MC series. But it deals with things that aren’t always easy to write and read. This book always deals with some of the events following one of the Hell Handlers death. That was such a hard part to read. Everyone was grieving and it played on all members.

The romance was really interesting. I didn’t click with it at first, but as the novel went on and both Makenna and Thunder, both started to let their guards down it worked for me. I did want to see them together with a little more though. I’m not sure why but I felt like the reader doesn’t get to see them both feel, it’s like one minute they aren’t together and then they are. I did feel like something was missing.

One of my favourite things about this one was that we got to see all the different sides of the family. From blood family to found family. And how they can all come together. It’s one of my favourite things to see in novels, and this one really shined through. I loved Makenna and her siblings. While they did have their ups and downs the reader is able to see how much they love each other

Overall, this was a great way to finish the series. I loved getting to see everyone again and hearing how they are going. While also see some new and fresh faces. If you are looking for a complete MC series that has all types of characters – then pick this series up.

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
